Under Laminate Heating

The ultimate heating solution for your laminate floors

PRIMARY HEAT SOURCE

It doubles as a primary heat source. Your heated laminate floors will do more than warm your toes — they will evenly distribute heat throughout the entire room.

ENERGY EFFICIENT

There's no dust, dirt or dander recirculating through the room as you heat it so you maintain your desired room temperature while being energy efficient.

INEXPENSIVE SOLUTION

Not only is the initial investment relatively inexpensive, but the long-term operational costs are much lower than traditional forced air heating solutions.

LUXURY COMFORT

This Radiant floor heating system makes your floors more comfortable. You will always step onto warm and inviting heated tile, even in the colder winter months.

HOW TO INSTALL ELECTRIC UNDERFLOOR HEATING UNDER LAMINATE FLOORS

FLOATING PLANK

Install the heating elements perpendicular to the finished floor plan direction. Then, secure the heating element with staples or approved tapes to a properly insulated, stable, and clean subfloor surface. Finally, complete the heating element wiring and electrical testing procedures using the provided instructions before covering the heating elements.

Once installed, conduct a second and final electrical test procedure for submittal and review to Green Wave Distribution for proper warranty validation and registration.

GLUE DOWN

The heating elements cannot come in direct contact with flooring and construction adhesives. First, secure the heating elements with staples or approved tapes to a properly insulated, stable, and clean subfloor surface. Then complete the heating element wiring and electrical testing procedures using the provided instructions before covering the heating elements.

Finally, cover the heating elements with an approved self-lever or another approved sub-floor material. Install flooring and conduct a second and final electrical test procedure for submittal and review to Green Wave Distribution for proper warranty validation and registration.

HEATED LAMINATE FLOORING FAQ

With proper insulation, the thickness of the material above the heat mats only affects the response time of the thermostat set point. The closer the heat mats are to the finished floor, the quicker the response time.

Heat transfer is not impacted because radiant heat is directed upward using proper insulation, so the heat isn’t trapped or lost beneath the radiant, in-floor heating mats.

Some flooring materials can trap heat beneath the floor and should be avoided. These include closed-cell carpet cushions, dense rubber, insulated underlayment, and tight twill carpets such as Berber.

Yes. These heated floor mats were designed to be installed under laminate flooring as well as most other types of floor.

Our radiant heating mats are self-regulating which means they can never overheat and ensures the integrity of your floor type.

The surface temperature of the heat mat is less than the temperature of window solar gain on a warm spring day.

It is important to bear in mind that a suitable, non-conductive underlay must be used when installing electric heat mats under laminate flooring and thermal insulation must be installed under the heating elements.

No, underlay is not a requirement for our radiant heat mats unless stated by the flooring manufacturer.

Many laminate plank flooring products now have an underlayment layer attached to the plank itself for cushioning or to address minor imperfections in the subfloor.

When using electric heating mats for floors under laminate many manufacturers recommend that the maximum floor temperature must be no greater than 85°F/29.5°C.

Whilst posing no safety risk, temperatures beyond this level may result in an uncomfortable, tingling sensation from contact with the floor.

However this does vary by manufacturer and product selection, so it is best to check with the flooring manufacturer for product-specific guidelines.
